“So, what’s the difference between a crown and a veneer — a composite veneer, a porcelain veneer, whatever? A veneer is just covering the front of the tooth, and it is just changing the appearance, size, and shape. You’ve heard me say it a million times, right?
A crown is going to cover the entire tooth. And then there are parts in between that where it could be, okay, it covers the front and just part of the back, right? And that’s all kind of technical stuff that us as dentists have terminology around, but it really comes down to the amount of tooth structure removed. A crown is going to have far more tooth structure removed than if it’s a traditional veneer preparation of the tooth.”
