“How do I know if your smile is any good after I’ve done it? I mean, patients look up to me and be like, ‘Well, do you like it?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, it’s your smile.’
The most important thing to me is that you love it. But how does a cosmetic dentist assess whether the case is a success?
Well, obviously, we’re going to look at details like the clinical stuff, the margins, you know, make sure everything’s cleaned up, everything’s smooth, the x-rays are clean, that sort of stuff.
But bigger than that, it’s patient satisfaction, right? It’s, did we reach those goals? Did we get the shape, the color, the translucencies, all the details correct for that smile?
Other things we’re going to look at, obviously, is longevity. That’s something that we’re going to have to track over time.
The other thing is function. Are we able to continue to function normally, do everything that we want to do?
