“Are dental implants safe for my health? Yes, dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth.
Will it make the radars go off at the airport if I have a bunch of dental implants in my head? No, it’s not like that, okay?
But I have had that question: ‘Doc, I’ve got five implants now. Am I going to set off the, uh, you know, is TSA going to pull me aside in the airport?’ They shouldn’t, unless there’s other reasons.
Dental implants, yes, completely safe.
There is a trend right now, though, and you’re seeing this out there, this kind of pivot to, ‘Well, we don’t want titanium or metal implants.’ So there’s this move to, like, zirconia or ceramic implants.
I would just tell you there’s not a lot of research. There’s not a lot of time and service with that type of treatment. I would approach that with caution.
And not to say it won’t work and not to say there’s not clinicians out there who can do it, but for me, I’ve been placing implants for 25 years. I know what works, and it works very predictably for our patients.
So it’s completely safe.”
