GALILEOS 3D Imaging
GALILEOS from Sirona is an imaging system that Dr. Hall uses to create a 3D image of your jaw and teeth. In 14 seconds, and using less radiation than traditional dental X-Rays, GALILEOS produces a 3-dimensional picture of a patient’s jaw and teeth. This 3D picture allows Dr. Hall to see and diagnose conditions more accurately and before they become a real problem.
CEREC and GALILEOS together
CEREC and GALILEOS are used in conjunction to plan and coordinate implant surgery. Dr. Hall imports the virtual CEREC model of the patient’s prosthetic tooth to the 3D x-ray and takes all consequences into consideration. This planning cuts down on procedure time and increases efficiency and quality. The software even allows Dr. Hall to know pre-treatment of any type of stress or risks that may come about due to an implant surgery.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays, or digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging that uses electronic sensors rather than photographic film. These sensors are used by a computer to instantly generate digital images that can be viewed or enhanced by Dr. Hall, allowing him to detect problems easier than was possible with traditional film x-rays. Digital x-rays require less radiation to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.
Dental x-rays can be used to reveal a variety of conditions including:
- Decay between the teeth.
- Abscesses or cysts.
- Poor tooth and root positions.
- Cancerous and non-cancerous tumours.
- Developmental abnormalities.
- Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line.
Dr. Hall recommends a full mouth series of digital dental x-rays for new patients, and Bite-Wing x-rays for patients during check-up visits every six months.
