Wedding season is approaching!
Whether you are getting married, are part of the wedding party, or are celebrating a friend’s nuptials, you’ll want to show off your most beautiful smile. If you’re unhappy with your smile and would like to straighten your teeth, you might consider Invisalign. A great alternative to metal braces, the treatment is almost completely invisible, so you won’t have to worry about bulky metal brackets and wires.
Metal braces are still a very popular orthodontic treatment and for good reason. They are highly effective and are suitable for any age. But, if you hate the thought of some of the lifestyle changes that braces require and are looking for something a bit subtler (especially if you have a big event coming up), Invisalign could suit your needs.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is made up of a series of custom-made aligners, which are manufactured from medical grade clear plastic. They are tailored to suit each patient’s teeth comfortably — in fact, Dr Hall will plan the exact movements that your teeth need to make so that each aligner will work to gently and gradually shift your teeth into new positions. Around every two weeks, you will need to change your aligner. You’ll be given new aligners to wear at regular intervals until your treatment plan is complete. You’ll begin to notice your teeth straightening as the treatment progresses.
How long does the treatment take?
The duration of the treatment will depend on the extent of your condition, but it is very important that you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours every day. This will help to optimise the results of your treatment. You can remove the aligners when you eat, as well as when you brush and floss your teeth, but be sure to follow Dr Hall’s recommendations for the best possible results.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Invisalign is a highly innovative treatment, and for this reason, there are a range of benefits. One of the most appealing advantages of the treatments is that it is so discreet. The clear aligners are almost completely invisible — even your closest friends may not even notice that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment! Because the aligners are so inconspicuous, they are suited to patients of any age.
The fact that Invisalign aligners are removable is also a major plus. Being able to take out the aligners to eat, drink, and clean your teeth makes the straightening process much more comfortable and potentially hygienic compared to traditional metal braces. There is absolutely no need to change any of your eating or cleaning habits during treatment. There are also no dietary restrictions, so you can enjoy all the wedding food and festivities without worrying about unwanted complications!
Perhaps best of all, Invisalign plastic aligners are comfortable to wear. They feel much smoother in the mouth than traditional metal braces, and because there are no wires or brackets involved, you won’t experience any rubbing or poking against your cheeks and gums.
Are there other ways to improve my smile?
Once your teeth are perfectly straight, you may consider some other cosmetic treatments to further enhance your smile. There are a range of treatments available, from teeth whitening, to injectable procedures designed to create a smoother, more youthful appearance. Have a look at some of the options here.
